First opened in 1865, the Theatre Royal’s Classic facade and Corinthian columns have always dominated Nottingham's city centre skyline. Since 1978 the fully refurbished theatre has been run by Nottingham City Council with its auditorium beautifully restored to its original Victorian style. 30 years on the Theatre Royal is still regarded as one of the best touring venues in the country, attracting high profile classic and contemporary dramas, opera, ballet, contemporary dance, children’s shows, the very best in touring musicals and, of course, the biggest pantomime in the East Midlands.
