Once home to the great romantic poet Lord Byron, there is much to see and do at this picturesque site. All year round visitors can enjoy its stunning grounds, which are an absolute delight in all seasons. Covering over 300 acres the gardens and parklands feature paths that meander past lakes, ponds and waterfalls. In 2011 the house will only be open for pre-booked groups/tours. Those on the tours will have the opportunity to be guided through the historic house with its medieval cloisters, splendid Victorian room settings and even the private apartments of Byron - complete with his personal belongings and the table at which he wrote his poetry. In the summer look out for the Newstead Summer Stage outdoor theatre and other events. The house and grounds can be hired for conferencing, weddings, catered functions or events throughout the year.
