The University Wind Orchestra celebrates two of the major events
of 2012. The suite from Malcolm Arnold’s Homage to the Queen
and the Courtly Dances from Benjamin Britten’s opera Gloriana,
both written for the Queen’s coronation in 1953 are here revived
to commemorate her diamond jubilee. The concert also celebrates
the forthcoming Olympic Games with Suk’s Towards a New Life (the winner’s music from the 1932 games), John Williams’s Olympic Fanfare and Theme and Michael Torke’s ‘sonic Olympiad’: Javelin.
The concert finishes at approximately 9pm
